My "Kadish" experience
Haim Avitsur / October 2018

My father passed away unexpectedly in February 2018. With his death I became a "Chiuv" and received the obligation to go to daily services to say Kaddish.  This is no easy task.  Most of my days start at 5am and end late at night.  It is a daily challenge to become available to go to a minyan at the right time  but as my year is coming to an end I found myself tearing up thinking about my last day to say Kaddish (January 18).  Fr the longest time I wasn't sure why because I should be happy to have my own schedule back.
After some thinking I think I have an answer.  It is because saying Kaddish is the last real connection I have to my father and when my time is up I will HAVE to move on. No more daily reminders. I may even forget.
